Community College Request for Course Credit

Students at Tustin Connect are permitted to earn college credit while concurrently enrolled at high school with no fee.  In order to do so, the course must not be currently offered at Tustin Connect, and the student must be enrolled in at least 4 classes at Tustin Connect and 1 or 2 classes at the local Community College to maintain full time status and be eligible to take advantage of this opportunity.   This is recommended for juniors and/or seniors.  Keep in mind that 1 college class = 10 high school credits. It is important to consult our school counselor prior to taking any classes to insure which courses will count toward graduation and/or support your college application.  Prior to submitting approval, please be sure to complete this form and return pages 3 and 4 to the counselor/principal prior to requesting or with approval request.  If you need help with applying to our local community colleges, check out this step by step guide.   For students in our math course, there is a free tutoring program for TC students taking math classes at IVC. Please check out this resource to sign up and learn more. The Math Center | Irvine Valley College (ivc.edu)

Dual-Enrollment

Overview

Through Tustin Connect, students in good standing may obtain permission to take up to two classes at the  high school in their attendance area.  Parents/students may request particular classes and/or periods; however, the schools will make the determination based on availability and enrollment at the time of the request.

Policies

Students must maintain passing grades in all the classes they take at Tustin Connect and the high school of residence.  If a student is failing a class at any point in the year, the administrator from Tustin Connect and the high school will determine whether dual enrollment can continue.

Students must maintain satisfactory attendance in the classes they take at the high school and complete coursework on time at Tustin Connect.  If a student has unexcused absences or tardies in any month, or fails to turn in the Tustin Connect work on time, the administrator from Tustin Connect and the high school will determine whether dual enrollment can continue.

Students must maintain satisfactory behavior/citizenship in the classes they take at the high school.  If a student receives less than a satisfactory mark in this area in any month, the administrator from Tustin Connect and the high school will determine whether dual enrollment can continue.

Inter-district transfer students will not be able to choose their school for dual-enrollment. All inter district transfer students will be placed at Tustin High School.
